Accidental Desert Action
There’s a story to this picture. I was trying out some ideas out in Death Valley. I had come to the Salt Flats, the lowest part of the desert floor and the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere. I wanted to film myself walking out into the flats, straight out in a straight line, until my body disappeared in the heat haze. As I was working alone, it took some setting up. I was looking West over the Flats.
There was no way to accurately set up the shot as I couldn’t gauge how far I would need to walk in order to disappear. I opted for trial and error. However, I was not entirely alone. I had parked up and, this being tourist season, a few other cars stopped briefly. No one stayed out of the car for long, except me. >>
